The Ophelia Ring in stainless steel available at Museum of Small Things.
This is an online store with a difference - it only sells one thing.
The product changes from week to week, and focuses on sustainability, limited editions, and Australian designers.
The website has only been around for one week, selling a beautiful laser cut bamboo notebook. And one week in the very near future it is set to feature Museum of Small Things ‘Ophelia’ ring in stainless steel.

Got this ring now in seven different materials/finishes. It’s really interesting to see how each one has turned out. My personal favourites are the stainless steel, sterling silver, and the polished bronze finish.
Ok so these are some of my designs. They’re not for sale just yet but I’ll link to my website once they are. We we so excited!
Just had a really friendly but exhausting conversation about the brooch I made (posted below) and whether or not it is problematic in terms of cultural appropriation. This is something I’d considered once I looked at the final piece, because, it really does have a “new age” kinda feel to it, which I associate with stealing a lot from Native American culture. That’s really unintentional though because I made the brooch by collecting bits and pieces that reminded me of my friend, and assembling them in a way that was to me, aesthetically pleasing. I can’t even pin-point any aspect of it that might infringe on another culture, except for the inclusion of two stainless steel feather trinkets that I guess are reminiscent of the way in which many cultures adorn themselves with feathers; But feathers are found all over the world and they’re included in a lot of types of jewellery (which is why I was able to order a bulk lot of the trinkets on eBay for jewellery making). The rainbow glass beads were included to make the piece a little bit gay, because we like things to be a little bit gay, and we’re a little obsessed with rainbows and unicorns and tacky shit like that. But the combination of these two elements does plant me in an inner city crystal shop (oh, and the crystals of course)……..
I’d really love to know what people think about it. Cultural appropriation is something I navigate cautiously but don’t have a really educated understanding of. Help?
